My Approach
To explain my treatment approach, I first have to explain my beliefs about OCD. I believe that OCD is not a problem with you, but a regular thought pattern that has gotten out of control. Additionally, I believe that while the core process of OCD is generally the same, each person and circumstance is different. Finally, I believe that every person with OCD can get better and move on with their lives if they truly want to and are ready to put in the work.
Based on these core beliefs, I use an enthnographic approach to understanding you, your culture, your history, and your OCD symptoms. Once I have this full understanding I then spend as much time with you and your family as needed to address your specific challenges in the real world, exposing you to your fears and ultimately breaking the OCD thought pattern. Because my approach typically involves multiple days, patients from other states and countries travel to Houston for treatment. Based on your case, if I believe it would be most effective, I will travel to provide treatment in your home environment (see list of approved states).

Additionally, in order to completely understand and treat OCD I believe in working with both the person struggling and their support network. Good exposure therapy must be continued at home by the patients and with support from parents, spouses, or extended family. Because of this, I provide family therapy as well as individual therapy. If someone is struggling with OCD and is not ready for treatment, I will also work with families to help work with OCD at home.
At the end of treatment, my goal is for you to replace the OCD thought pattern with a new pattern that will enable you to carry on with the life that you want. I believe that you can take your life back and I want you to
